1964 Jaguar MK2

SchwartzPCompleted Projects

Check out our customer Warren's 1964 Jaguar MK2. Warren is no stranger to the pro touring muscle car scene, as he already owns five Schwartz Performance builds. Warren had seen several restored MK2 Jaguars online, which piqued his desire to add one to the fleet. He wanted to not only restore the vehicle, but upgrade the suspension, chassis, and powertrain, unlike any other Jaguars published online.

Knowing Schwartz's prior expereince, he knew he could rely on us to develop a British Restomod. In Mid 2022, Warren reached out to Jeff to discuss the project and the serach for a solid MK2 started. The car was obtained from an online auction in Nevada and shipped directly to Schwartz Performance. The engineering team desinged an entire custom G-Machine chassis, using our dual A-Arm IRS, Baer Brakes, and Ridetech Coilover shocks. For the powertrain we went with a LT1 and 8L90 transmission.

While the car was structurally sound, we did need to replace all four door skins and do minor rust repair. Custom sheetmetal fabrication in the trunk area above the IRS housing and the transmission tunnel was required to fit the chassis and new 8-speed automatic. The engine compartment and core support was completely re-worked to gain room around the LT1 and add clearnace for the BeCool radiator. The rear wheel fender skirts were removed and custom fender openings were welded into the factory body.

To tie the car together we went with Warren's standard color, Jet Black. The wheels are Dayton Wire Wheels with a knock-off hub. The oxblood red interior gives a nice contrast and gives a luxury feel Jaguar is known for. All of the seats were reupohlstered with high density foam and leather. The seating position was moved back to give the driver and passenger more legroom in this small car.

The final result was a British Restomod powered by American Muscle that carves corners like a modern sportscar while retaining excelent ride quality and comfort. A well rounded elegant cruiser that is sure to impress the crowd.
